About
I'm Victor Velázquez. I'm COO at MagmaLabs, a nearshore software consultancy based in Colima, Mexico, with US offices in Las Vegas and Atlanta. For 15+ years we've built and scaled web, mobile, and AI products with senior Ruby on Rails, React, and Node engineers for clients across HealthTech, FinTech, and eCommerce. I'm also still a builder — I write code, ship open source, and use the same tools the engineers on my team use.
What I work on
At MagmaLabs we built Forge, a Virtual Employee Platform on Rails 8 that runs production AI agents — autonomous, prompt-cached, Slack-native. Most of what I write here comes from things that broke (or surprised me) on that codebase, plus a handful of open-source side projects I've shipped along the way.
The book
I'm writing The Agentic Engineer — a book on building real software with AI agents. It's currently in review with three readers. The thesis: most AI/coding books rot in 18 months because they teach tools. I'm writing principles instead, anchored in production war stories so they'll still mean something when the SDKs get rewritten.
